La Jolla is a hilly seaside community that abounds with natural beauty and amazing views of the coastline. You won't find very many condo buildings set directly on the beach. But this hilly town offers you a fabulous option – living on the hillside with a panaramic view. Why is that a good thing you ask? Here are a few reasons:
You can escape the crowds and yet be close to the sea
San Diego is home to around 70 miles of stunning coastline and the beaches here are so beautiful, that people just can’t resist them. The all-year-round amazing weather means that the beaches are teeming with people. With an oceanfront property, you have to be willing to deal with the crowds, noise and the traffic that comes with it. But in some of the condos away from the main drag but up a little in elevation, you will be close enough to enjoy the ocean view, but far enough so that the crowds and traffic situation won't affect you as much.
Seahaus condos are located at the southern end of La Jolla in the residential Birdrock area, a block away from the beach. Because they are located on a slightly elevated piece of land, residents get great ocean views on upper floors without being in the busier beach areas. This midrise complex is one of the newer condo communities in the area. Granite kitchen countertops, stainless steel appliances, glass showers, marble bath counters, spacious living areas, a swimming pool and fitness center complement the view.
You will get bigger bang for buck when your condo isn’t right on the ocean
You'll definitely pay more for being right on the ocean, because the view is large and gorgeous. While a view at the 939 Coast highrise right on the ocean is selling for over $800 - $1200 per square foot with hefty HOA fees, head a few blocks away to get a condo on the upper floors with a view at Devonshire condos where a top-floor unit in this older building might be $100-$300 less per square foot. The Seville highrise has views on the upper floors but lower prices.
Not every condo in every building will have an ocean view, and getting that view might be a pricey proposition.
