News > Waterfront Living Goes Small-town at Mission Beach

Pristine sandy beach, sparkling ocean, relaxing ocean breezes -  Living in a condo in Mission Beach is everything one can imagine when dreaming of the southern California lifestyle. Located on an isthmus that connects the Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach communities, Mission Beach can be a challenge to get in and out of as it is a one way in, one way out neighborhood. But that means that you won't find busy streets, making it easy to relax on your patio, sip a cool drink, and appreciate how condos at Mission Beach are so unique.

Though Mission Beach is a neighborhood in the larger San Diego, it maintains a small town feel with friendly neighbors and plenty of local restaurants that you can walk to.

Boutique Condo Buildings and Townhomes

Part of why there is a small town feel in Mission Beach is that this neighborhood is made up of small condos, primarily 2 - 10 unit communities. It is also common for homeowners to convert their homes into 2 condos - one on the first floor and one on the second floor.  In many cases, back patios will be adjacent to your neighbors patio, with a walkway in between, which makes it easy to get to know your neighbors.

Walking off of the beach, the shops and restaurants at Mission Beach are plentiful. One of the most popular and delicious brunch spots in San Diego is The Mission in Mission Beach, which means the line is regularly wrapped around the block - but well worth the wait. Small boutiques are also ubiquitous, so it's easy to replace those board shorts or sundresses should the occasion ever arrive.

Beachfront or Bayfront

Ocean Front Walk is a path that runs along the beach and in front of residences.  You'll see both locals and tourists  riding bikes, skating, or just taking a walk. The condos and townhomes along the beach are smaller but don't let the smallness fool you - most have very high end interiors with a price tag that reflects their rare beachfront position.

It's just a block or two away from the beach to reach Mission Bay, a large body of water where San Diegans enjoy water sport activities. From taking the boat out for a relaxing Sunday ride to wake boarding like a pro, those who love the maritime life frequently ride through the bay on everything from large yachts to small speed boats. If you don't have a boat, don't worry, other activities common to the bay are paddle boarding, kite boarding, or simply taking it in while sunbathing on the sand that lines the bay.  Bay lovers will want to check out Mission Shores condos, with great views of the bay, and other Bayside Walk condos.

This area has excellent options for condos on the beach in San Diego. The combination of bay and beach along with a welcoming group of locals and tourists make Mission Beach worth a look.
